Imitation of Double-Dragon Jade Bi from the State of Chu
Artist: Li Chunxi
This piece is a masterful homage to the ceremonial jade “Bi” discs of the ancient Chu Kingdom. Carved from dark, lustrous nephrite, the circular disc is adorned with dense and uniform grain-like patterns, symbolizing harmony between heaven and earth and the eternal cycles of sun and moon.
Two dragons—stylized in the distinctive Chu tradition with open jaws and coiled tails—face each other on either side of the disc. Their presence signifies balance between yin and yang, and invokes blessings and auspicious energy.

The intricately carved wooden base and decorative backrest reflect an ancient aesthetic, harmonizing wood and jade in a tribute to ritual, symbolism, and ancestral reverence.
This work is more than a reproduction—it is a spiritual dialogue with history, reviving the essence of Chu civilization through contemporary craftsmanship.
